How close can I place a prime swarm from the parent hive?

Even if I change the entrance direction am I going to end up with drifting or once they leave is that it they will never darken the parent hive door again?

Probably a really stupid question but I am sure someone will tell me if it is

More or less adjacent of you wish, once they settle down it will be the same as any other colony placed next to another, I have a some hives in groups both next to each other and behind each other, (or in front, whatever). It doesn't appear to make any difference and if there is some drifting, so what? Drones are in and out of everywhere.
