Selling a complete frame of honey instead of extracting?

    Two queens one hive?

Today at the hives we found brood in the super - thought perhaps this was because the queen had managed to get the wrong side of the excluder, but then found her in the brood box. She's quite a chubby queen, we didn't even mark her as she sticks out like a sore thumb. There's no way she could...

    Efb

Already have loads of spare kit on the way so it won't be a problem if he thinks a shook swarm is the best thing to do. Thanks for all the comments everyone. I'll let you know how it goes.

    Efb

Maybe I'm a little paranoid as SBI got in touch a week ago to say there was a FB outbreak up the road. Will check to be on the safe side anyway...

I did the matchstick test to rule out AFB, pretty sure it'll be EFB if anything...

    Efb

Yep that's what I thought. Will call bee inspector out ASAP.

Thanks for the advice. Here's a clearer image. I've called out the SBI just to be sure...

    Efb

Something didn't seem right with one of my (4) gives today. What do you think does it look like EFB? Put a matchstick in and they didn't come out stringy. But the brood looked undernourished and milky.

    Desensitisation clinic advice needed

Hello, I got stung for the first time this season on the finger and as usual my hand has swollen to three times its usual size. This time the swelling has extended past the wrist. Based on past experience it will stay like this for most of the week. I've been prescribed strong antihistamines...

    Stings

Roola - hands are always bad for me, especially if I'm stung on the finger, I've had my whole hand balloon up down to the wrist before. If you do react badly make sure you take your rings off immediately and leave them off for 24hrs... It's not great fun having them cut off in A&E!

    Requeening - has it worked?

No, that's what's worrying - do you have any ideas on what might be going on inside?

    Requeening - has it worked?

We got these bees late in the season as a swarm, at first they weren't too aggressive, then their character changed after about 6 weeks - perhaps the queen started using different genetic material to fertilise the eggs with? The new queen was bought mated and marked from a good dealer so there...

    Requeening - has it worked?

Yes the queen was alive. We'll be treating with Oxalic acid later in the year, so haven't put anything else on for varroa.

    Requeening - has it worked?

We recently requeened an aggressive hive. Took all the steps needed and waited the ten days before revisiting. On inspection today we had mixed messages. The bees were completely different - calm and pleasant to work with. But - we saw no queen or eggs or larvae anywhere. We'll check again next...

    Can you solve this mystery?!

Thanks to you all for your replies. There were no dead bees on top of the crown board. The hive body was definitely stacked with no gaps, the roof seemed to be on okay too. I'm not sure about the vents - I'll need to check on those. I guess we live and learn!

    Wasps

I've heard others say there have been lots of wasps around this year but haven't noticed them out and about in London or near the hives...

    Can you solve this mystery?!

I have a very aggressive hive that made a super of honey. Last week I decided to bite the bullet and replace the queen so disposed of her and waited until this week to check there were queen cells. On the same inspection last week I also moved round the two supers so the fully capped one nearer...

How much aggression is too much?

I was wondering what your thoughts are on how much aggression you're willing to take from your bees. At what point do you think re-queening is the way forward, or do you have any other tricks? One of the hives I keep seems to be getting worse. They try to sting several times on every visit...
