thanks for the replys. Yes was mainly asking for a friend whom id been talking to about my bumble problem :) She is interested in honey bees, and i dont know alot, she doesnt seem worried about the children, and judging by the wise knowledge on here then im sure she is correct :)

Im new to the forum. But I know alot of people in the area that try to attract honey bees to their gardens/farms. what are peoples opinions if you have children in the vincity? Is it wise? even with educating your children on the dangers etc?

thorn..i looked at images on google and this was the closest image on here http://express.howstuffworks.com/exp-bee4.htm so yes think it was a honey bee. maybe a baby one? as the sting didnt hurt very much and the sting although quite long was easy to pull out?

Thorn, I think you are right. Ive just been out for a smoke, and saw at least 6 or 7 coming in and out of the place I was talking of, and definately of the bumble kind in my photo. i think maybe the honey bees are just taking opportunity of the forage :)

No it wasnt a wasp, i had to pull a sting out of my finger, and i presume wasps dont have those kind of stings? Unless im mistaken? Maybe just a coinidence then..i do have alot of flowering bushes and flowers etc in my garden, maybe ahoney bee had just been there at the time. I think it would be...

Thanks :) I think il leave them then, the one that stung me looked nothing like that one though, i know because it was on the floor after and it was skinnier and had more stripes, but seen others of the same type going in there. Is there different types of bumble? Like some that are 'workers'...

So what do i do about them? And what is the difference between bumble and honey? Sorry for my ignorance, as i said in my first post i know nothing :)

As i dont know much about bees, i havent investigated very much, i didnt want to disturb them. theres a hole in the hedge and i can see many flying in and out. I havent looked in the hole, and im not sure when or how i should go about investigating it. There always seems to be one or two flying...
