Bee's cleaning out the 'wet' super in our garden.

Just incase anyone is interested.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5JRjuj_j9tw We left the supers out in the garden at the weekend, after extracting them. That was on Saturday and we haven't seen a bee for days but then yesterday (Thurs) they found it.

    Getting Honey Tested?

Thanks for the answers, and some of the questions : Biggles : It's not the water content of the honey, more to do with any other chemicals picked up from the environs. Midland Beek : It's nothing specific, its just there is a lot of industry in the area and a lot of stuff that isn't 'natural'...

    Getting Honey Tested?

Does anyone know of a place that will test honey to see if it is 'OK' to eat? I seem to remember reading that someone was sending a sample away for testing before selling it. I'd like to make sure the honey hasn't picked up an nasty's from near by etc. Any ideas?

    Storing a Super

Ok, thanks for the advise. I have it stored for now and I'm on a mission to get an extractor asap. I think I get one form the local assoc so hopefully it will only be in the shed for a day or two. Thanks:cheers2:

    Storing a Super

We have just taken a super from the hive but we don't have an extractor as yet. Is it ok to store a super and if so how? We currently have it in the shed, tied up in a sheet, ie no entrance for insects etc. Is this ok for a few days while we get hold of an extractor? Thanks! Matt

Firstly, let me introduce myself. I am new to beekeeping, so sorry of the questions are a little stupid:rolleyes: I have been learning about beekeeping for a while, ie I've read all the bee books etc, and we had the chance to take over a hive for almost nothing. So now we have a hive and I...

Just a quick question from a newbie. I'm completely new to this and am still reading up on the topic, so...... What time of the year can you set up a hive (for the first time) in the UK? I assume the winter months are not possible, but how late into the summer can they be set up? ie is it too...
