    7 Beehives Stolen Llandudno

eBay.co.uk item number 374907803735 for example, there are lots to choose from just ensure it takes a SIM card and isn't a WiFi model.

    7 Beehives Stolen Llandudno

Plod have wayyy too much violent crime to investigate. My 2 nephews are both PCs and they are called to stabbings on a daily basis. A sad reflection on the state of this country I'm afraid 😔

    7 Beehives Stolen Llandudno

I have a solar powered camera with SIM card in trained on my out apiary. It has "ai human detection" so if something resembling a human comes into frame I get an alert on my phone and I can view live as well as activate a siren. They're available on eBay and the like. £100 well spent.

Leg jiggling: is it a male-only phenomenon? An observational study in an airport café.

OCD Definitely in the male bloodline of my family.

Leg jiggling: is it a male-only phenomenon? An observational study in an airport café.

I think it's possibly hereditary. I do it, my father and brother both do it. The usual time is when sitting or lying with legs crossed. I do it unconsciously and if my wife tells me to stop (it annoys her a lot) I get an "ache" in my calf trying to subdued it.

What's flowering as forage in your area

Saw plenty of hazel in the woods by my out apiary and off white pollen coming in.

What did you do in the 'workshop' today

I see Ivor Biggun knows his onions on making hornet traps 🙂

    Asian Hornets

I'm a bit late to this party and I've skimmed through the previous posts but what is fipronil custard? I know fipronil is used as a spot on for flea control in cats and dogs but the custard bit I'm lost on?

    That's a relief.

Volume of bees for a sugar roll

Ok thanks for your answers, much appreciated. I'll do a check on the colony in the out apiary I caught this year just to see if they brought a load of the beggars with them. The hives in my home apiary I know have varroa and I'll do much the same as you treatment wise just wanted to assess the...

Volume of bees for a sugar roll

Good morning, what volume of bees should I use for a sugar roll and at what count of mites should I then treat the hive?

Should I give up on this hive?

I had almost exactly the same situation as yourself earlier this year, the colony left on the stand was fine , no detrimental effect from the other bees begging their way in and they're doing fine now on double brood. Like you I had only 5 hives and was reluctant to lose 20% of my colonies but...

    Cutting fondant

I've gotta get one of those, although it might take a while to cut through a 1.5m diameter oak 🤔

introduced queen-"drumming " noise in nuc box

I recorded the sound from the hive this afternoon. I could hear it a good 10' away. Sorry for the background noise / distortion I used a free app to convert the 3gp file to video so I could upload it. The noise is the one that sounds like a dying pigeon.

introduced queen-"drumming " noise in nuc box

The humble bee never ceases to amaze me. Before I became interested in beekeeping I just thought of them as simple insects doing simple things, it's such an eye opener!

introduced queen-"drumming " noise in nuc box

Maybe glib was a little strong, more off the cuff. However, I've been trawling t'internet and found a possible answer. A study recons it's a call to action by the older bees to the young less motivated bees to get up and go. So basically Buckfast bee younglings are lazy sods, a bit like my 19 yr...

introduced queen-"drumming " noise in nuc box

I have the same noise coming from one of my hives. It's been discussed before on here like a creaking / drumming noise but the discussion just goes off on a tangent with people making glib remarks about various bands or musicians taking up home in the hive. I'd love to know what it is but I...

    Is15th August too late

Personally I'd get the other colony at that price and let the other get on with producing a queen. The weather is set fair for a week or 2. Then you'll have 2 colonies going into winter so if you lose one all is not lost .
