    Shoud I add more supers?

I would put supers on both. Depending on the honey flow and flowers in your area you could be getting honey well into August. I live in Poole, Dorset and we have alot of Ivy near by which flowers late in the year. As far as timing goes for adding supers...providing you don't split your...

    Queen introduction and time

This is what I'm trialling, shake bees off frame, place cage over capped brood, put in the queen for 4-5days and they should have accepted her. Pretty tired of paying for queen's just to have them rejected. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk

    Queen introduction and time

I'm no expert, but i replaced a queen last Sunday. I dispatched her and introduced a new queen using a introduction cage on the same day. I've been told to leave her for 4-5 days before releasing. (The introduction cage is a different system to just a standard queen cage) Sent from my Pixel 3...

    Queens under introduction cages.

Well I had a colony become agressive after the first year for whatever reason. Also made some splits and just bought some more colonies and one of those is crazy agressive so. Also tried doing some walk away splits but I think I accidentally damaged the QC...it's been one hell of a learning...

    Queens under introduction cages.

I've literally just done the same, I was told that you need to release her after 3 days...but if you don't think so then pointers would be much appreciated!! Are you re-queening and agressive colony? Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk

    Moving Poly Hives by Car

The reason I'm having to move them is the owner was stung and had a severe anaphylactic shock and is very insistent on having them moved out of the garden asap (despite the bees being very docile)...it's just a shame it's happened whilst I'm having new queen ect[emoji57] Sent from my Pixel 3...

    Moving Poly Hives by Car

Ahh ok so could have buggered it anyways...hmm I'll leave it another week but I can't leave them there longer than that. I guess I'll move them in to place and re-inspection after a week...if no eggs I'll have to assume I need to order a new queen. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk

    Moving Poly Hives by Car

Well she has hatched, about a week ago, but I checked for eggs yesterday and saw none so leave it another week and have a look again? Thanks for the help by the way! Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk

    Moving Poly Hives by Car

So I'm transporting them 6 miles away, so not worried about them returning home. I will be moving 4 and most likely they will be travelling on a trailer so I would assume they would get plenty of air flow. One thing I am concerned about is that I've had a newly hatched queen and 2 queen...

    Moving Poly Hives by Car

Wasn't sure which section to put this in... So my hives are currently located on someone's property, however they have developed and allergy to bee stings and subsequently the hives need to be moved. Looking up on YouTube wooden hives can be stapled together to stop them sliding during...

Hello! - New-ish Beekeeper in Poole Dorset

Thanks for all the help and ideas! I've been spending the day doing a bit of research. So...as much as I would like to split the colony down into loads of nucs and requeen them, I don't have the necessary equipment or money at the moment. So I could either try and get them to accept the queen...

Hello! - New-ish Beekeeper in Poole Dorset

Right...I've read through what people have been saying in the aggressive buck fast chat and from what I understand is... A) If you have a tame colony that gets agressive from one year to the next you either have a queen supreceedure where both queen's are still alive running around in the...

Hello! - New-ish Beekeeper in Poole Dorset

Hi guys! Thought I'd join in the fun by getting involved with this Beekeeping forum and learn a few things along the way. I'm 24 years old and in my second season of Beekeeping...and my god... it's SO MUCH FUN! Anyways, after losing one of my hives overwinter I was pretty upset! But I've...
