    Custom Jar Labels

I used Canva - pay the tenner for a month's premium membership, design your labels (try not to go completely insane choosing between fonts, like I did) then export your labels to .png format with transparent background, cancel membership. You've then got a file you can use for label printing...

    Is the June gap early?

There's been an early gap round here for the last couple of weeks combined with showery weather, supers were definitely being depleted. On first blackberry now judging by the pollen, so hopefully the warmer weather in the next few days will see the supers refilled...

Can putting wet super on hives make bees bad tempered?

Mine did exactly this for the first time last week...put freshly-extracted, wet supers on and a couple of minutes later they were going mad with no sign of robbing. It was also dusk and my other hives weren't flying. They were aggressively circling around and chased me back to the car! Fine the...

    Another beekeeping blunder

    Slow to cap honey

Same here in West Sussex, had a good early spring flow (15kg per hive) then the dire weather put a pause on that until a week ago. Drawing and storing now thankfully, not much capping but hopefully they'll start doing that when it's showery at the weekend and they're stuck indoors...

    Honey extraction

I emailed them in Germany yesterday and had a quick response. They do ship to the UK, but it's ordered via email/PayPal once they've got a shipping price for your address, was €16 for Sussex. They seem very helpful, have gone ahead and ordered. Not that I'll have a spring crop to process after...

I've tried to get one but they don't seem to ship to UK any more, did you get yours before the post-Brexit restrictions came into effect?

    Lidl Jam maker

Bought one today - worked very well heating up water as a test, and it's a great price. Many thanks for the heads up 👍

south coast uk-beige pollen still coming in

Yellow pollen seems to still be coming in by Chichester Harbour...no idea where from, as the ivy seems to have stopped and the farmland is bare. Perhaps they're just wearing tiny yellow leggings now the weather is colder.
