    What did you do in the 'workshop' today

    Wax cleaning- Try using bamboo nappy liners to filter the wax. I put the raw wax on a some old wire mesh on a large foil tray which I have bulldog clipped the nappy liner and put it in the oven at 50 deg. Leave to drain through. Give good results. Then I use the waxed nappy liner as a fire lighter.

    Combining a very aggressive hive

    I am having to do exactly the same. However I will treat for varroa before uniting. That way the united colony will be disrupted less.

    Hi Ian. The frames are to one side. I am going to look in hive this evening so will take up your suggestion and will move brood to be over entrance. Hopefully that will help.

    Thanks for the reply. I have just set the entrance to a single bee space. Will look at how to make a tube arrangement. It's a Paynes polynuc. So to some extent it is a bit of a tube now.

    Varroa Treatment

    feedback Hi Went ahead and treated with Apibioxal (vapourised) there has been significant mite drop. Colony unaffected queen now laying well. so a good result.

    EFB or pollen?

    Efb HI I had EFB last year the photos don't look like our cells did. However if you have any concern send the photos to your local bee inspector. I found them a great help although I had to destroy a colony.
