    Thanks I originally registered with one and couldn't get in,so reregistered.If I use my phone to post it defaults to the original. What would the dummy frames be doing? Any opinions on the 'pus'.

    Yes they're nice frames too so that's a slight gain - I was half expecting a real mess bracecombed every which way.. As you can probably tell I'm keen to put a positive on all this so Id appreciate if someone could tell me what the blobs of pus are-its one of the photos with a blade of grass...

    Thanks ,I will judicuiosly open it up on Wednesday,I was not in much state of Monday to do it Sunday.There was no activity as normal and I even poked a twig around the mouse guard but no life .

    bee water feeder

    Not my idea and untested Drill holes all round two or three inches below the rim (to stop it overflowing) and fill with water. Break up some thin flat pieces of polystyrene over the surface as pontoons for the bees to sit on while they drink

    I have some very nice flat galvanised perforated sheet which would be great for ventilation but I think at 4mm aperture its too big Anyone know whats the maximum size?

    Hive wash

    Ha -so true. So you'd bin any wax that you didn't know of it's history? This stuff is supposed to deal with spores.

    I scraped and scrubbed propolis all afternoon. Nearly did a whole queen excluder :laughing-smiley-014 My hands are now stained nicotine-yellow like the old boy in the shop doorway.

    Frame component mix and match

    Do the various types of National frame all have the same spec cutouts for the sides to fit into? If so could you fit 14x12 hoffman sidebars into SN/DN top and bottom bars?
