    Honey eye drops

A very regular customer, who is also a friend, is suffering from macular degeneration. He has been making eye drops using manuka honey, but has discovered that 'raw' honey can be used and is obviously much cheaper. So he proposes to use my honey for making eye drops. I am rather uneasy about...

    Need help with honey tubs

I have exactly the same problem Enrico. 15lb honey tubs from Thornes bought because I had nowhere near enough jars. Now, having bought hex jars from Hobbycraft am having the devil of a job opening the tubs. Finally managed one well, son-in-law did with great difficulty, just another ten or so...

    Sex Change Goose

Well, here's the evidence that it can happen. As an experiment I set four goose eggs to incubate and all four eggs have hatched. I just wanted to satisfy myself one way or the other, never really expecting to get any fertile eggs, let alone 100%. Now, what to do with the goslings ...

    Sex Change Goose

Half way through last year's laying season, one of my two geese stopped laying and gradually took on the characteristics of a gander, showing signs of aggression and protecting the other goose. I hoped this situation might right itself this season, but it seems the sex change is permanent - one...

    Clear bucket feeder

Thanks @Anduril, I have had some similar in the past but the small nail holes I made in the lid, although well supported with a wedge of wood below when I gently hammered the holes in, caused some cracks. I guess that the composition of clear plastic is different to white plastic, which may be...

    Clear bucket feeder

I get on pretty well with bucket contact feeders over the centre crownboard hole.. The drawback is that, without dislodging the feeder from the crownboard to feel the weight, there is no way, from the outside, of seeing how much syrup is left. I thought the anwer would be to find a clear...

    Queen Head-Down

I do see the numbered post is there, just a score through saying 'you are ignoring this member' then giving the option of seeing the ignored content.

    Queen Head-Down

That would usually show as 'you are ignoring this member', not just a completely missing post.

    Queen Head-Down

No, nothing showing between 1 and 3. Has happened before.

That doesn't make sense; where has post#2 gone?

    Making WBC hives wasp-proof

Remove the entrance restrictors which aren't a good fit anyway, and replace with a WBC Wasp Out from Thornes, which is essentially a tunnel entrance, as advocated by Pargyle.

    Honey Jar Labels ???

I agree Enrico. Since my colour laser printer bit the dust and I bought a black and white printer, I really like the clean look of b/w against the golden honey. David (The Apiarist) uses black and white and I was impressed so gave it a go. Very pleased with the result.

8oz Hex Jar Prices and Bottle and Co

I've always used bottlecompanysouth. Very good company; excellent service. Unfortunately this year they have stopped offering the traditional screw top 1lb jars which I like. Plenty of other choice though.

    Optimum frames temperature for extraction

None of the honey was crystallised. Tangential extractor and one side spun slowly then turned the other side, spun then turned again.
