wasps and drones and this time of year

This time of year the drones are kicked out of the hive anyway, they have tbh pased their use ie just to breed with the Queen, As Drones do nothing else ie they dont defend , dont forage or act as nursery bee's, they will be a strain on the hive's resources, soo they get evicted As Drones...

    ethics

Yep you are right the frames can be identified and the law would say that they are yours I dont think its a H&S matter/ risk assessment for the police as a ex officer chasing scrotes etc over fields, walls, thorn bushes i never did a risk assessment on that, however i doubt you would find a...

    Bumble bee in hive

Quite possible, as robber honey bees once getting the colony's scent can get free reign of the hive (dont know how the robber gets back to its own hive unmolested though unless its a loner honey bee) but havent see Bumbles get in myself. And the only way ive seen honey bees kill wasps is by...

    colonies in sheltered sites

I use solid floors atm and im varroa free :) if the hives are well looked after and not left to its own devices, it shouldnt be a problem.

    Dont tell the neighbours

Ask the complainers to identify the bee or insect that did it and if he/she/indeterminate can point it out and its one of yours tell them you will ban the bee from the hive :)

Bees fanning wings over raised back at front of hive

sort of, they are sending out a recall order advising trouble at the hive, im assuming u did a inspection? Fanning does occur to get the airflow moving but from what is described its a call for reinforcements/help at the hive i believe

    Under Lock and Key

Well if there is a demand there will always be theft, tbh all we can do is be vigilant, i paint my hives Green and keep them out of view of passing traffic, also if you get offered cheap bees question the history etc if suspicious report to the police but tbh what the hell could they do have a...

What do I do with crystalised honey in supers?

yeah as Muswell said, rape honey, sometimes the bees wont even have it back lol its that hard

    Storing frames

Id say it would go rock solid and become unusable, then you will get maybe a wax moth etc best just to use the material , clean up and make ready for re-use

    Moving a hive

2 feet should be ok on paper :) however id play it safe and maybe move it bit by bit, only reason i give is that the books ive read say u can move it about a metre, moved mine a few years ago and found all the girls sitting on the ground 3 ft from the hive lol
