    Clean floors

    When i replace its in the warm weather period and its replaced with a scrubbed clean floor and that was once a month, weekly i just gave the floors a sweep collecting the debris in a baggy once in a while for a closer look-see.     Smartwater as possible solution?

    Although its been mentioned before preventative measures are better than marking them, Lets say the stolen hives are found and the owner charged, 1yr later the hives could well be still in a evidence storafe somewhere in the bowels of a police station, case is waiting to go to vourt and 'you'...

    Non Treatment.

    Ive just added some Thymol to the syrup feed for the moment, however i am keeping a close eye on them and will continue to monitor However Preventative actions imo 'if in doubt' or you are 'unsure' is best and tbh responsible even if it means using continuous treatment then sobeit

    clustering

    Im thinking they could be there to stop a draught - way of controlling temperature/ventilation maybe, or they may have been robbed recently and could be a reaction to that, apart from those thoughts im really quite unsure

    Do beekeepers help undermine a bees defence?

    Tbh thats what the Bees do anyway, they attack a scout and cook it as the bees i believe have a higher temperature threshold than wasps/hornets, its only when the scout hornet successfully returns with friends the coloney is errr well screwed.

    Years ago my dad attended a womans house with honey pouring down the chimney (been going on for years) As he was in the building trade, to successfully get them out (from he he says) was a major job, He couldnt save the Bee's even trying everything he could, Comb dripping with honey was heaved...

    Uniting colonies

    well ive seen some news paper put between 2 colonies (brood boxes etc) the bees chew through the paper and the scent form the queened brood begins to intermingle. All ive seen is a load of paper shreds deposited outside the hive :)

    How to clean Queen excluders

    I would use a hive tool to loosen it carefully then maybe use a stiff bristle brush, i only have metal wired and just bought some plastic ones, Thinking about this post made me realise the plastic ones would be subject to breaking if id use a excluder cleaning tool designed for metal excluders.

    there are sometimes a number of solutions to a problem, most are right but the issues i generally see is that there are so many influences around a problem, and it can be difficult to offer a solution to a problem reported on these forums, ie lack of info etc You are finding you are learning...

    Honey markup

    Totally agree, i aim for £5 a llb and i have learnt the hard way it sells better in differant sizes, next year ill be getting some 1/2 llb jars, some smaller test sample jars as well as the 1 llb ones
