What did you do in the Apiary today?

A great day here in the north lakes, so had a quick peak in some of my hives and the apiary that I look after, 11 hives in all. All doing fine most have four frames of brood, one was on 6 . Two only had a couple of frames of brood, though considering that I thought they had died out, they are...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Moved five hives, for a friend, 20 miles to his new apiary site in the snow. By lunch we had experienced winter, spring, autumn and back to winter.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Just stood watching bees flying and out of the two hives at work. I seem to remember there is a technical term for that but have for gotten what it is. Loads of pollen going in :) I am particularly pleased about one hive, as I had written it off last year as a drone layer. I left it to...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Went to check on the association apiary today and was very surprised to see bees flying from two hives I had thought dead, having not seen any bees through the feed hole at the last two visits. At first I thought they were robbing, but I don't think robbers carry pollen into a hive. Things got...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Went to apiary to plant some more fruit trees, did not expect to see any activity as the car temp gauge showed 4C. Therefore a little bit surprised to see all five hives flying and taking in pollen. Tried to check temp using a household thermometer, which also showed 4C, quite impressed

    Lavender smoker fuel

Thornes must be feeling the slump-another sale

That would account for why when I made my one and only foray into the "bar" my name was shown as Cum***** This has always seemed odd to me. That the censor takes an innocuous word such as Cumbria and turns it into something that might be considered rude

Thornes must be feeling the slump-another sale

R2 ps. Humans know that Scunthorpe is a place, a 'puter thinks it's rude! Same problem with Cumbria
