    Dead bees

Please stop beating yourself up about it. You will learn by each loss and there is a good chance you wont do it again. My first year I lost a hive due to a drone laying queen. Second year wasps. Third year damp. I learnt from all of those mistakes and touch wood I have never repeated them...

    grandparent rights

I know it does not answer your question and its very rare but my best mate got up the duff shortly after turning 16, the other half was 18. Now many years down the line they are still together, married and have two very well trained boys and they are both still very happy. It does happen, just...

Parasite left behind after varroa falls off?

Am I being stupid but is this being talked about a lot more in other countries? I cant seem to find any specific leaflets from places such as BBKA/Beebase that talk about this problem. Is that because its a kind of "bi-product" of varroa? Is this recognised in the UK by those in the know...

Maybe. So they aren't referring to just one type of parasite then? It could be any number that are transmitted?

Parasite left behind after varroa falls off?

Hi, can anyone shed any light on the following comment received in an email? "John has lost 4 colonies and he told me he had the bee inspector out and he though it was a parasite left behind after the varroa mite falls off? Jim rang me on Monday and I asked him about it and he's never heard of...

    Part P - Wiring Question

:iagree: providing its signed off by someone certified as Part P then its fine. Ditto about the council Building Inspector giving you a ticket for a price, they may outsource it now. Maybe worth a phone call just so you know the score.

    So Tempted!!

At our assoc meeting on Tuesday we were all told to take advantage of the warm weather and open them up. We were told to just remove the outer frames for a look and to leave the brood area alone. I have to say that I ignored this advice and left my bees too it. I am not sure if one has...

If this was your bee, what would you do?

If you did the OA treatment on a regular basis, what danger (if any) is there of the honey being tainted?

    Why not think about rehoming?

Can I also recommend GRWE? http://www.grwe.com/homingWelfare_dogsForHoming.asp I got my beautiful boy from them and they are all lovely people with a massive passion for rescuing and rehabilitating as many greyhounds and lurchers as they can.

    What are the wasps doing?

I have kicked two queens (that is queen wasps, not the other sort of queens) out the house today, what is going on with them? Is it because its warm outside and they have just found their way in or is it because we have had the heating on over Xmas and its caused them to wake up from their...

Help! Bees left hive and moved into tree.

AntoniaHK - perhaps if you know of a few people who are also starting out you could set up your own association? Put an advert out to see who is out there and fairly local. If you are all too far away to meet up perhaps you could swap email addresses and keep in contact that way? I really does...
