****** Hive - Death in Correx

Some of the DIY chains do a moulded channel the right width to press over the open edges of correx, if you are keen you could narrow the sheet by the thickness of the channel and the board would be stiffened in the process, I have never done this but have seen edged correx in another use

    Kochstar

some of these images and comments infer that wax is being direct heated, wax should always be heated over water as it can and does burn very fiercely, please for your own safety use indirect heat ie over water, that is apart from direct heat ruining the wax anyway. Not being miserable just...

    Aggressive bees

Allthough you say you have re queened this colony, have you seen the queen? if you were just feeding them today and they got nasty it may be because they have rejected and killed the new queen.

    Cleaning hives with household bleach

I am no scientist but I think you will find soda is a strong alkaline and bleach is acid so mixing would neutralise there effect totally, but correct me any scientists out there

    Badger threat

So you kill varroa mites because they can kill your bees, but the bigger problem is the virus load that the mites put the bees under, the mite just vectors the virus load, the same way that badgers vector TB so back into perpective you kill mites to lower the viral load, the badger cull is to...

    Varroa Treatment And Queen Rearing

Hold on a minute, the original OP was asking about the possible issues with Bayvarol in cell raisers and mating Nucs/colonies, no one has actually answered his enquiry, as usual its turned into a "lets attack Bayer thread" and that should be in the pesticides area not here. The only problem...

Not saying the US operations are not organised, its like you say the numbers game, they move so many compared to this country the odd mishap is bound to happen, as we all never know what or who is coming round the corner. They are also generally more mechanised with swingers and palletised...

    Heather move pics uploaded

As Murray will no doubt agree, if its not well organised a disaster of one sort or another will doubtless result either millions of dead bees or millions of angry bees having been tipped out of their home as usually happens at least once in the states on the annual almond pollination run

    Butler Cage

Are you talking for release of the queen or to keep her in the cage, as above for release or if you want her kept in until her new bees get used to her, wrap the end with the fondant in with silver foil and put a elastic band around the foil
