Well, you sometimes get caught......Caveat Emptor

I'm not satisfied at all with Mannlake UK. They advertise in the BKQ as free shipping to the EU - tried placing an order for 20 sheets of plastic foundation and was given a ridiculously expensive shipping cost = EACH SHEET WOULD HAVE COST ABOUT 10 Euros. Now it is not even possible to place an...

In praise of my AMM black queen

Sweeping and true, unless there are statistics to prove otherwise. From the information on beebase, the last official movement of bees from Ireland to the UK was in 2011 and that was 15 nucs. I believe that GBBG themselves do not export queen bees. But obviously from posting on forums and...

In praise of my AMM black queen

I not able to tell you if our queens are more suited to the UK than the RoI ones. The point is that the RoI are imported without the required paperwork and veterinary checks - ILLEGALLY. Whilst ours are always accompanied by veterinary certificates. What I can tell you is that some colonies...

In praise of my AMM black queen

Yes they are. Special paper so cannot be copied. I am an EU registered queen breeder and exporter. Monthly inspections by the vets and samples taken for examination.

Yes I know.......you were viewing the problem from another aspect. WE soon changed your mind about that though didn't we.

In praise of my AMM black queen

The queen bees from GBBG are imported illegally in to the UK - without any veterinary checks or paperwork. But I guess that is OK for the AMM fraternity. Not really an import is it? Just some queens crossing a line on a map. Clearly a case of do as I say and not as I do. Same goes for queen...

    does anyone keep aggressive bees

You could still have a severe allergic reaction up to 24 hours after the sting. If you feel unwell or any thing strange happens - go at once to ER.

Importing package bees by the truckload?

Unconfirmed reports indicate around 50% infestation in hives examined in SIA. So it has been present for a while and has probably spread outside the SIA. Time is on the SHB side.......

Importing package bees by the truckload?

Migrates on the fruit and infests hives wherever it ends up. I'm not confident about it not ever invading here, but as the UK and Cyprus are both islands surely it will be a bit harder for it to get in, not like sharing a land border. The volume of fruit into the UK is about 100x/day...

Importing package bees by the truckload?

The real danger is not imported queens. It is when, if it hasn't already, the SHB gets into a fruit distribution warehouse and hitches a free ride to everywhere.
