Yet another newbee question :p Does a Plastic honey tank do the same job as a stainless steel ripener ? Seems pointless to spend an extra £100 + if they do ? As usual many thanks for answers :)

Good day today :) An experienced member of my association came out and inspected my two hives. 3 full supers on one virtually all capped, on a double brood box. The other two small swarms that had been merged. Both given the thumbs up and both doing well. Have added a fourth super to the good...

I keep and occasionally breed Tarantulas so pretty spider pro here :biggrinjester:

Bee Inspectors are welcome at my place anytime :) Could do with all the help and advice I can get as a Newbee :)

Thanks Monsieur Abeille, when would the best time to start to get them down to one brood box ?

Currently my main hive is a double brood box hive. Should I> A. Leave it this way for winter ? B. Get it onto one brood box for winter ? C. Split it and make two hives for winter? (currently no queen cells)> D. IF I have to take it to one brood box for winter what would be the best...

Ive kept and bred tarantulas since about 1992, never been bitten .. touch wood .. now bees and stings bee-smillie:eek: :)

Just a thought :) Is there a particular time of day that bees prefer to swarm ? Ive caught two this year and both have come between 3pm and 5pm, do bees swarm regardless of weather, or as soon as a queen cell is capped or will two queens tolerate each other until better weather during rain etc...

The habit of looking at the bbc weather forcast for the next 5 days and trying to plan when to open up the hives .. Then looking a few hours later and finding its all ruddy changed ! :eek:
