    On the hive

No, this not a sand Lizard ( lacerta agilis) This is the Wall Lizard (podarcis muralis) found mostly in Channel Islands and med.

    First Q cell

I had to do artificial swarm on one today! It was late but the Queen showed herself luckily for me, this made it quicker and easier. I also had a Q cell in a drone layer! Lots of new bees but the brood has gone to pot with Drone brood.

Been flowering for while but looking good.

    First Q cell

Yes it has worked perfectly. I have checked this afternoon and still lots of bees happily working away and the Queen is laying. This Queen is my Breeder Queen, 3 years old now and only lives in my Nucleus box as I'm wanting to get the most I can out of her!

    Confused newbie

First, did you transfer overwinter Nucs to hives? Yes leaving feeder on right now is OK You need to understand what's happening before you make a decision on what to do! How many frames of Brood and how much stores, is the first thing I would ask you?

    First Q cell

Today I found my first QC from a overwinter Nuc. My fault really as I new it was overflowing with bees. I knocked it back a week and half ago but with the rape coming in, it wasn't enough and ran out of room. When I say out of room, it was a six frame nuc with six full frames filled with cap...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

I went to look at two new apairy sites today :) there's a gate to be made so I have access to a nice little sheltered spot. This will hopefully support 15 colonies. The second is good access, so just a case of adding bees :)

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Checked on Nucs today, they going crazy. Going to move them into hives this weekend. Some with ekes on had built loads of wild comb and filling with nectar!

What did you do in the Apiary today?

What a lovely day! Lots of Brood and seen plenty of oilseed rape pollen coming in. Nectar coming in too and my guess is the same as the pollen! I have not moved bees to the rape so I can't be sure but some of the bees are covered totally yellow! New fluffy Drones on the combs too. I have added...

Has anyone had worse overwintering by switching to poly?

I did some late splits and they have come this far looking very good, all in poly! But I have mixture of wood and poly Nucs and it's not a lot in it really., but it's been very mild down here.
