    Why won't my honey crystallize?

I intend to use my new toy for the 1st time later this year (Abelo 50L heating/creaming machine)

    Why won't my honey crystallize?

I believe you should make soft set with honey which is more prone to crystallise, so spring or autumn.

Moving from standard National deep to 14x12

Full healthy queenright brood box but bees not in super

Sure. Was said in a context of wire excluders vs. bamboo.

    Brood Box as Super

As above, your back will suffer…

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Same here. Seeing ghost bees coming back but not much increase in weight. Might just be sustaining them. No complaints though, as the hives are holding their weight.

    Honey price

Yep, biggest issue with honey prices are… other beekeepers.

    Brood breaks and no eggs

Here, I don’t really see brood breaks now. Not huge amounts of open brood, but no complete breaks. I can see eggs and young larvae in any Q right colony I look at. Mind you, we still have some heather and balsam coming in.

    DLQ unite or shake out?

Have you ever seen a property sealed worker brood from this Q? For me, this does sound like a DLQ. Swarm from end of July, I wouldn’t expect a brood break by mid/end of Aug.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Noticed the last few days the bees are really looking for water. Consuming stores I guess.

    Bucket Stand

As said above, sure there are lots of ways… Who‘s the most creative?

    Bucket Stand

    Nice one Jeff.

    Bucket Stand

If a wooden spoon works for you, great. For me, I needed a sturdy solution, one I can get the valve beyond the countertop edge.

    Bucket Stand

I’ve been looking for a cheap solution. Found this laptop stand on Amazon. Works great. You can change the tilt angle and overall feels very sturdy (rated for 15kg max, so perfect for when the bucket level gets low)...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Had the BI in, as a final visit this year. All looks clear and no samples taken, though they still want me to get rid of all the super frames (or melt/boil) and shook swarm the entire apiary next spring because of the EFB issues we had in area during the last couple years. One of the colonies...
