    GM crops

I feel that there should be similarly extensive and independent consideration for agricides and GM crops ... it's still too soon in my estimation to let GM be released wholesale into the environment ... it's bad enough seeing it splurge into agriculture in other parts of the world - it may be...

    2 Frame Nucs

Mike, So have I got this right? II queens tend to be bad tempered. Is this down to the genetic crosses or the II process itself? If so do people only use II for breeding purposes and not for producing of queens for honey production. Sorry if this is a basic question but this is all way...

    GM crops

The same is true of drug companies but nobody complains and there is academic research in this area. As will all things the devil is in the detail but simply too many people have a gut reaction and are misinformed and hence do not able to really see the the wood from the chaff.

    GM crops

As far as I can make out there is not a single piece of actual evidence in any of the posts that GM is the evil that many of you clearly believe. A lot of fear yes just like people feared cars and trains when they were first made. With careful testing without hysteria and it could be safe...

    Vapourising Oxalic Acid

Would have to agree with ITMA. It is simple not credible to compare oxalic acid vapour with the oxalic acid food as this will effectively be in solution and be ingested into the stomach while oxalic acid in the gaseous phase which would go into the lungs. Having said that it is fairly easy to...

The Monk and the honey bee.

Fascinating videos. The step from Mendel to Brother Adams interests me. Who worked out the fact that bees cross bred from a wide area which lead to the realisation that isolated breeding stations were needed? Thank for putting these up.

    Setting up a honey business

[ However, hell will probably freeze over before I get honey sales of £79k in a year ... ? Certainly true if you have only 1 hive.

    Bulk honey price –-london/south east

Sorry it was 8oz not 12oz so I think that is about a far price; Isn't it.

    Bulk honey price –-london/south east

One chap at work said to me this year; Have you sold that honey yet (offered to colleagues at £3.00 for (corrected 8oz not 12oz as originally posted hex jar)? I got mine from Lidl far cheaper. I was please to tell him it had all gone and for a local premium product there is a premium price...

    Setting up a honey business

:iagree: Yes there was a recent thread on this which showed it was not necessary for a small honey producer.

    Setting up a honey business

Hi, Sounds a nightmare. All that for 1 hive or did you have more hives then?

Mike Palmer, Queen rearing. National honey show.

That is really useful to know (and not what it says in the books; well the couple of books I have anyway). Thanks.
