That's us lot facing tribunals then. And yes the co op connection did not pass me by. I was born less than half a mile from its 'birthplace, the reasons for which are very ingrained in our make up and upbringing. Gradely folk and social conscience is our DNA as is John Bright in the repeal of...

    Open feeding honey to bees!?

On discussing this thread with my good lady her response was, the moment you lift those lids wasps appear out of nowhere within minutes. And I said probably bees as well but we just don't notice as they look just like the residents. In most cases.

It may have been that it was undefended so up for grabs, sort of like looting. All sorts of factors contribute to differing reactions.

    Open feeding honey to bees!?

All very true. If you think that one out, you yourself will realise how every Beek contributes to sending out those smells providing locations. We are delighted at that when a swarm is attracted our way due to those very same smells. Sensibly we try to isolate them and essentially starve them...

    Open feeding honey to bees!?

I I am not running a Cafe for bees. So should I let the robbers who include those I describe just have a free for all at mine and my girls expense, not happening. I have had a hive robbed out this year and even though I tried non of the robbers would provide their names and addresses, even...

    Open feeding honey to bees!?

Exactly, my tactic is a means of distraction. It works for me but I do not propose to tell others they should follow my example. We each should know our particular environment and act accordingly

    Open feeding honey to bees!?

Did not say inspecting, it might be best to take the time to appreciate what is being said. The thought that you as an individual beekeeper can control the contacts your forager bees are making is beyond ridiculous. Do you believe your girls are above being involved in robbing in concert with...

    Accidental beekeeper in Sussex

I think you may have been overly concerned at the condition of those boxes, they appear pretty sound to me. Don;t dispose of them in the spring after your intended transfer, a little tidy up and repair will see them last a good few years more. just a nod to the wise, if you have a blow torch...

Lawrence will give you a good dose of that :} You seem like a sensible chap so if you joined you can pick and choose who and what you listen to. My good lady repeatedly tells me when I speak of conflicting ideas to my own, you continue to do what you think is best for our girls they have come to...

    Open feeding honey to bees!?

As everyone is aware, the pile on in a small area by large numbers of bees and wasps of unknown origin is exactly the activity of robber bees. The thought that an individual beek can control the spread of anything seems illogical and especially so when taking into account swarming and or feral...
