    Jars prices on the rise

Ah, I'm assuming you hand label.; does it not take you an age to do that considering the number of hives you have? I use a labelroo so it takes seconds per jar.

    Bee(keeper) space

Shipping container which is excellent for the storage but could do with a better extraction space.

    Jars prices on the rise

Hex jars look better than rounds jars in my opinion and when set beside one another the hex jars makes it appear you're getting more as they are taller however they aren't as easy to label so that is what put me off them.

What caused my colonies to fail?

I use 3M safety googles: 3M Goggle Gear Safety Goggles, Scotchgard Anti-Fog, GG501SGAF-EU : Amazon.co.uk: DIY & Tools Re a couple of earlier posts about the full face mask; they are terrible. Better with the split mask IMO. The face masks always steamed up on me very quickly meaning I had to...

    Thornes Catalogue

If your placing an order they give you the option of adding a catalogue to the basket. Small rant; whilst the site redesign is a great step forward, especially since they fixed the "double search field" in the top right corner one thing that is annoying is time limited products and not saving...

What did you do in the 'workshop' today

Made a guide for the circular saw with some ply. Then proceeded to use the new guide to cut up about three sheets of ply to make thirty 46cm square boards. Something you can never have too many of.

Swienty national Mod - lip chewing | Frame end spacing | Bee Space for double brood | Entrance etc

I'm fortunate I only had two before I caught on how bad they were; both gone now. The reason you outline above is the reason why I'd never go for their 12 frame version. If you go for the original v1 or even v2 it doesn't matter if they discontinue it down the line as it's the same external...

    Langstroth or national.

You have a commercial hive which is the same external dimensions as a national but the frames and box are different - note the lugs. Your super looks to be national though. You could buy a national nuc and the frames will fit into the commercial hive however there will be gaps. It might be...

What did you do in the 'workshop' today

A five minute mod today. Noticed last weekend in the cooler temps that using the Sublimox was a bit slower going than in September so got some manifold wrap and used it to insulate the sides of the pan. The cage holds it neatly in place. Will be interesting to see how it compares.
