    What's wrong with my hive?

Yes, I agree. It looks like there are some adults ready to emerge. When I put them in a smaller box as Eric Beaumont suggested I'll examine the pupae. Thanks for that suggestion.

    What's wrong with my hive?

Whew!! Those photos look exactly like mine. To be honest I was afraid I had Foul brood since I know that will cause holes in the capped brood. I went back and looked at my notes and I DID put Apivar strips in the hive in August. I had forgotten that. My hives have a screened bottom and I...

    What's wrong with my hive?

I went back and looked at my notes and I DID put Apivar strips in the hive in August. I had forgotten that. My hives have a screened bottom and I periodically put in a board to see if I have varroa and I haven't much. Thanks for your advice. I need to be more diligent.

    What's wrong with my hive?

The bees were treated by the beekeeper I bought them from last May. No other treatment.

    What's wrong with my hive?

The weather finally cooperated so I could do an inspection on my 4 hives. Two look great, one so-so and one that is worrysome. This hive was the biggest going into winter. I treated with OA in November. I know that I had a mouse get in the hive at some point and the bees mooved from the brood...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Goran, LOVE the picture of your field of Henbit/Dead Nettle. I have some henbit seedlings started and can only hope they do well here.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

We have had constant 40-45 mph winds lately. Haven't been able to do a hive inspection or set up swarm traps. But bees are coming and going in all 4 hive. And I'm about to embark on a new adventure. My hives are poly Langstroth hives and someone just gave me a Top Bar hive (and wants to give me...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

It was 17 F last and 60 F today. When we have snow it's usually gone the next day. But we only get about 22" of moisture a year usually during a 2 month period and we get really excited to see snow in the winter. So far this year we've had .81" of moisture and we are Giddy!!

What did you do in the Apiary today?

We have more bad windy weather coming and our last freeze isn't for another 10 weeks so "leave alone" is good advice. I'm just happy to see the reserves, the little bit of brood and the queen.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

We've had some lousy weather this winter. Lots of wind. Today was pretty nice so I decide to do a quick look to see how the bees were faring. One of the hives, which was my strongest going into winter, now seems to be the weakest. My bees fly all winter when the weather cooperates and I've been...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Yep. They do. Especially now when there is no pollen around. I do have some pollen substitute out for them but they still go after the layer pellets.

Moobee, Sometimes life sucks. A companion who gives us unconditional love is a hard loss.

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Haven't taken a good look in my hives this season. Every warm day the wind is blowing like crazy. But the bees are out in force on my chicken feed and in my bird feeders so I'm assuming they are collecting protein for brood.
