I found Nigel to be quite arrogant in his delivery at times and really quite aggressive towards one or two of the questioners. I got the distinct impression he really didnt want to be there.
Totally agree and we'll be trapping on the off chance of catching one in Sunny Devon whilst attempting to mitigate for a bycatch. Is their idea that if we don't try to trap them then we won't catch any and we can pretend the problem doesn't exist?
Agreed that does appear to be the standard way of building the DIY project and the cabinet comes ready built. What do you use as a heating element in this set up? Thanks
That does look a fairly simple affair and the fact you can have all the buckets at virtually ground level is also appealing. Im wondering has anyone tried making anything like this using bathroom/kitchen underfloor wiring as the heater elements installed in a PIR lined ply box?
A liittle late to the party but..... I have Abelo 12 frame hives with 1 or 2 Abelo supers per hive. To keep costs down Ive also bought a load of "seconds" cedar national supers in the sales and constructed them as top bee space rather than bottom, they sit nicely on top of the poly ones but...
Not a specific one at the mo but will be looking for a 20 frame radial. Laurence @ BMH has a Youtube video of his (I think 40 frame) new premium Abelo/Lyson which I think is heated.
For those with experience of different extractors is it worth the extra expense of buying an extractor with a conical base, ie tap at the lowest point rather than having the fairly standard tap at the side and slightly above the base? Thanks all.
As I understand it the Gas Vap is great if you only have a few hives to do (I would think your 8 counts as that) A lot more its all too much of a faff with breaking heat sources and blocked tubes.
