    Alternative to boiling infested frames?

    Another crazy idea I had and wondering if you guys think that it is any effective, as an alternative to scorching frames: what if I put the frames in an oven at say 250 degrees Celsius for maybe 5 min? Guess I would melt any remaining wax or propolis and kill bacteria?

    So if the colony was vey weak, had a bit of sac brood and possibly no nosema, what’s the reason behind the recommendation of burning the frames to ash?

    Bee defecation on the face of only one of the frames so I’m assuming it could have been nosema but didn’t get it tested as they died before my following inspection

    Thanks So just to clarify, please - by bonfire you mean destroying them and not just scorching. I wouldn’t reuse the drawn combs but thought that the frames could still be used

    Thanks! I’m aware that for AFB the recommendation is burn everything, but do you know if bleach would destroy any potential EFB or is this treatment only efficient against the other pathogens?
