    Bees not taking down invertbee

yes, a bit of the hedgerows are riddled with it, but didn't notice much activity from the hive. Just a handful or so fliers in and out.

    Bees not taking down invertbee

Hi all. In what I considered would be my penultimate syrup feed for the season I decided to change from home made sugar syrup to some invertbee. Previously the bees had been draining the syrup solution within a couple of days from a contact feeder, however now with a rapid feeder they have...

    Identifying debris

Hi Pulled the base board out and found bits I’d really like identified. Have an OMF in the hive. Can anyone help identify what the small black bits are in the top right of the first images and again in the bottom right of second image? And the brown and yellow blobs in the second image? Seeking Mentor - North Wilts - can be remote

Hi. Have attended a 2day course back in the summer and now have my 1st hive - from a nuc in late July. I believe things are going ok, but seeking a mentor to guide through silly mistakes especially as I believe I need to increase to at least 2 hives for spring. Forum has been a trove of...

    Bakers’ fondant

How much fondant would a hive (single standard national broodbox with 5 frames of bees) need to be fed in your opinion ? I'm seeing come large kilo orders and can only assume it is for multiple hives.

    Giving comb back to bees

Honeycomb came from the same apiary my nuc came from late July. By pressed, i mean just compressed to get the honey out of it. Was thinking I could put it in a container and place above crown board inside hive for them to find and use. Thoughts?

    Giving comb back to bees

Hi, is it wise/possible to give honey comb to the bees? Have some comb from a pressed block of honeycomb and wondered if it was usable by the bees.

    Api Api Api

Another beginner question - all I have researched suggests it is almost time for varroa treatments before winter. But so far I have seen discussions on Apiguard, Api-life, Apivar oh and MAQS. Are these all the same thing, just different formulations? Is there a consensus on which is best to use?

    Wasps and Bees

This is probably an obvious new beekeeper comment/question BUT.. had to stop my hive inspection three frames in today as wasps kept diving into the brood box. This is my first year and first experience of this so I ask, should I just have cracked on and let the bees deal with it? I’ve seen them...
