    Robbing? Or something else?

Hey Mark - Split from May. They have been on an upward surge and wanted to give chance for more space in the next 2 to 3 weeks before they slow down. Sent from my SM-G986B using Tapatalk

    Robbing? Or something else?

I decided to a add whole box of wet honey frames as part of a second expansion chamber to a really strong hive. (The wet frames are full size nationals, once a Demaree top box which quickly back filled.) Since putting it in there is a huge amount of activity at the entrance, bearding, clouding...

    Honey Extractor / Spinner: Recommendation

Looking for recommendations for an extractor. I'd like one that can handle National brood frames as well National supers (First year Demarees have been pretty successful.) Throughput is low, 5 or 6 boxes 3 times per year. Thanks much...

2 x 3 frame BS Honey Nuc rearing

Basic question...if you have a 3 frame mating NUC should you keep feeding what they can take? Or limit?

    And then there were three

for any sense of proper bee keeping you need minimum 2 hives and for minimum "certain" bee keeping you need 3. So you are doing great... :serenade:

2 x 3 frame BS Honey Nuc rearing

Ive had decent success with a couple of these NUCs in raising two lots of new queens from splits ie 2 x NUCS x 2 chambers so 8 queens. Actually the second cycle is about a week away from queen emergence. My question is how much to feed? Ive kept them pretty topped up - If you give, they take it...

    Fellow Londoners

Hey Stephen...good to meet you. Ok same experience. I have an apiary in Syon Park and then another at my home a mile away from there. Have you ever done the pollen test? Sending away to check forage content? Sent from my SM-G986B using Tapatalk

    Double brood swarm signal?

Well...I just went with a basic newspaper, no cage. Will give them 24 hours and see. They will or they won't.

OMF enough ventilation for my move?

Well done. Always an adventure, the first hive move. The next one won't be anywhere as stressful. Are you going to requeen your caught swarm?

    Double brood swarm signal?

Sorry Dani...i was only creating an insurance policy given Steve and my own natural feeling that they may not even accept the queen with the NUC given they are in manic QC prep. If the advised wisdom is the NUC-to- newspaper will be fine " as it is" I will gladly skip the cage. Sent from my...

OMF enough ventilation for my move?

Ive kept bees sealed in with OMF and a mesh "ceiling" for 36 hours and kept all the bees. Ambient during the day was easily 24 or 25 (during last year) However I did mistakenly have one hive in the same mesh-top-and-bottom configuration that went 48 hours...I lost about a third of the hive to...

    Double brood swarm signal?

Thanks Steve....I have a queen ready in a good, mature NUC. Want to newspaper them and her to this hive. I was thinking that I could newspaper AND cage her just to be certain. Maybe leave the cage for a week...

    Is it me?? Again!

Feller up the road from me practices a swarm control that consists of setting up swarm traps within a 100 meter perimeter of the apiary. Apparently he had learned this from a commercial bee keeper who had hundreds of hives located at a disused airfield in Cambridgeshire. In the scaled model...
