    National deep tangential adaptor?

Do you mean in a radial arrangement? If so, the deep frames are too big.

    National deep tangential adaptor?

Thanks for the reply post. 10:30 last night, I was inspired to email Abelo customer services, to see if they could sell me a tangential frame for my Lyson extractor. To my surprise, Damian (the director) replied almost immediately, telling me the drum wasn't big enough. So, he's sold me 4 of...

    National deep tangential adaptor?

I've gone to start loading the Honey extractor with deep frames of honey and realised it only takes shallows. Does anyone know if i can get a tangential deep compatible metal cage thing for this Lyson extractor? I don't fancy having spend £1,000+ on a new deep electric extractor. Thanks

    Where are the wasps?

There's a single wasp that visits the hive in my back garden. Other than that, this large Hornet mimic hoverfly has been hanging around in front of the hive, apparently baffled by the underfloor entrance. I've read they lay eggs inside beehives, with no undue effects to the colony.

What's flowering as forage in your area

A good 60% of bees now coming in with Balsam tramp stamps. The flow is now ebbing and flowing, as different plants go in and out of flower.

What's flowering as forage in your area

Plenty of balsam along the canals, here in Surrey. I'm pulling the Honey this weekend. Might be a bit more out there, but the main flow is done.

What's flowering as forage in your area

I've noticed the flow slowing, here in Surrey. I think it'll be done before the week is out.

    Honeycomb

Opened up a hive in the back garden this evening. No gloves, just a vale, as that colony is usually very relaxed. Unusually, they started headbutting my hands. Then I remembered I'd just been eating some rather ripe Stilton.

    Confession time.

I assume it's the warm weather. Last night I saw the odd bee going out to forage at 21:30.

No guarantee the swarm would arrive or stay.

    Honeycomb

How about putting comb in honey jars and then filling the jar with honey? It's then postable and in a recyclable /reusable container.

    Where are the wasps?

Starting to see the occasional wasp now. A couple have been checking the hives, but took off sharpish due to strong colony numbers.

    Where are the wasps?

That's how I do it. But it's easier said than done. Bit of a scramble getting them into the sack the first few times. Also, you can't see their head in the sack, so I push them to the bottom of the sack with my foot, and a smash with a hammer ends it. Unpleasant, but instant.

    Growling Bees?

Just heard the same growling/purring sound from one of my hives. Not pipping, but a loud slow purring-croak.

    Where are the wasps?

Saw several queens early in the year, but only one regular worker wasp this year. Must be because I switched to underfloor entrances, they say they deter wasps. Found this abandoned nest in a bait hive, 2 weeks ago.

    Flippin' weather

I'm envious. Thought I was going to run out of boxes. Ordered a few cheap ones from the Maisemore sale - still haven't dispatched after 1 week. Next weekend is forecast to be better for Surrey.

    Flippin' weather

Directly after Bumblebee-gate, I took advantage of being close to the apiary and plonked additional supers on some of the colonies. A few of whom had already drawn out, and half-filled with nectar, deeps of foundation, in just 7 days. Such was the flow. Inevitably, this caused some...
