    Help, i think they're a bit aggressive

I can stand fairly close too (a metre or so). Even to my most aggressive hive. The only times I have been stung outside of beekeeping activities is - when I was putting a new roof on the shed which is situated right next to the hive and I was up a ladder in their flight path for a while, or -...

You think that's crazy? You should assist me inspecting my 'naughty' hive!

    Maisemore sale

Ahh that's good to know as I can get my next season equipment planned in in time for that. is the October normally as good (price wise) as this Junes one? I do find it amazing that some people do seem to expect deliveries to be 'same as normal'. 'Next day delivery' has raised expectations to...

    Low in stores

I guess for the dregs at the end? But I agree, when its not ripe its pretty runny anyway.

    Maisemore sale

Its only an hour and a half away so am sure I will venture up there at some point. Maybe when all these restrictions are lifted there would also be a spare spot in my car for a fellow beekeeper (2 x 1.5hrs is good chatting time!).

    Borage as forage

I have had borage in flower since spring and still in flower now. Not the same plants, they self seed like mad.

    Low in stores

I had a friend do this last year. He diluted it with a bit of water and used a rapid feeder - so it was basically like exchanging sugar for unripe honey (although I don't think he needed to dilute it too much)

    Maisemore sale

I think this will be a learning curve for Maismore for sure. Some on here seem to know the owners / set up much better than me but it sounds like it is a relatively small operation in general (maybe not in beekeeping equipment terms but in general) and they were maybe a bit naive when they went...

    Maisemore sale

They told me they were doing the small orders first, no idea if there is any truth in that or just something to say to try and keep people quiet.

    Maisemore sale

All my stuff has now arrived (about a week ago). I rang them a couple of times and they offered to 'bump me up the list' as I said I had ran out of supers (which was true). I don't know if they really did or if it was just my turn. Basically - try giving them a call to see when it is coming...

The borage patch in my garden is still going strong! Wish I had a farmer nearby that grew it!

    Cut comb processing?

Q1 - Just give them a rinse imo, no need to sterilize Q2 - if you have wax moth eggs in the cut comb then how else are you proposing to kill them off?

    warming cabinet

I suspect the heaters you are looking at are not designed to be frozen for periods of time therefore you may find they fail quicker (and in failure possible become dangerous?).

    Virtual meetings

Somerset are running a couple of the modules remotely via zoom - starting in a couple of weeks. Maybe not one for your regular meet nor for newbies, but something to consider if there is any demand. Just to add, they are not trying to get everyone to do the exam, if members want to attend just...

    Low in stores

Funnily enough same for me! :) Not tonnes, but comparable to last year - possibly a little more. I don't extract in spring currently as there never seems to be much.

    So it began

Thanks JBM. I was initially going to link to one on there but the link was really long so decided to find a shorter one!
