    Second wave of swarms as we hit mid summer here... Caught two today less than 1km apart.... Hot as hell here - 38deg C & NO wind...... Amazes me every time,,,,, just to watch them ball the box and then kind of pour in almost in a liquid fashion.... If you've seen it before you'll understand...

    All hell about to break loose.... 14 + tons of chocolate, flour, yeast, sugar and any/all other waste used in the sweets making industry just delivered for destruction in Biogas plant.... Bees already starting to arrive already, less than 2km away from Black Bee apiary... aaay yay yaaay ...

    Mine are pretty simple... Cut pallet with a piece of polystyrene stuffed under the brood box. Last plank on the pallet and styrene keep grass away from hive entrance... But must admit.... Not as pretty as some...

    A quick update on those little black buggers (Mountain Bee) - translated from Afrikaans... We opened up those 10 colonies recently moved into the river valley... Those agro ones ! Placed supers, scratched, prodded, bumped etc etc etc.... Out of those 10 colonies, 8 of them have a high "black...

    Most of my brood boxes are home made using 18mm ply wood and specked to the Langstroth brood outside diameter... This gives the 11 frames ample space inside.... So,,,,, FULL Lang brood filled with honey/nectar - plus 10 %... Really need to weigh one of these things when I get the chance...
