    questionable teaching or not?

No I stated I don't know it was a guess, but how do prolific bees overwinter without masses of feeding?

How do you mean, our bees abroad or our bees hear?
  3. R

    questionable teaching or not?

I dont know any, but I'm guessing they take off the suppers and feed sugar?

Not necessarily, amm tend to live linger from what I've read so don't need replaced as quickly as other subspecies. They also seem to be the most efficient when it comes to brood breaks in darths which means less mouths to feed and more honey stored.

The uk and Ireland are the best and only examples because we live hear. Amm did not evolve in Italy, if they did they would be more like the native italian bee which does great with ling hot summers, having massive brood nests serves them well. I agree we should have many more breeders in the uk...

Think that depends on the year, surely you get less crop when the bees have turned it all into brood, and people who keep on a single brood don't seem to be short on honey.

Why I thought it was a funny thing to say, there's been no threats from either of us?

    questionable teaching or not?

I'd guess the bees where more like native bees, like the ones in Ireland that are kept on standard brood boxs, or like Roger Pattersons near natives that are also kept on standard brood boxs.
  9. R

    questionable teaching or not?

Ofcorse it isn't, why wpuld you want multiple brood boxs when you can have just one and get the same crop?!

    questionable teaching or not?

I'm not throwing insults, your throwing statements then not replying when I challange them to be crap?

It dosnt surprise me if they are of the same mentally on imports I'm sure they wouldn't like his whole ethos on not importing. You've missed the point, you need to keep adding foreign genes to keep your mixed bees, f2 aggression is because you've imported bees lol its a backwards method.

    questionable teaching or not?

My point is you stated bees are not kept on standard brood boxs, they most definatly are and I've mentioned Irish bee keepers as its very common there, the subject of the post is about culling a prolific queen and your trying to ridicule the bloke because you don't agree with it. He culled the...

Was there no sugar rushing during and shortly after the war, was there not alot of bee keepers lost in the war? Your not so good at answering questions are you pal, still waiting on your responses to the crap claims you've made?

    questionable teaching or not?

Do you think that myth is the same as Irish bee keepers don't use one standard brood box to?
  15. R

    questionable teaching or not?

Oh without a doubt that's why I said its 3rd hand info, but the fact the background dna in the uk is in favour of amm and the people selling imports where the ones stating that amm where wiped out makes it more plausible to me.
  16. R

    questionable teaching or not?

How so? Why do the buckfast lot bring new queens in every other year?
  17. R

    questionable teaching or not?

I thought the bit about post war rationing and lots of bee keepers being lost in the war accounting for the losses quite creditable.
  18. R

    questionable teaching or not?

That was my point sorry, Rogers mentor was around when iow was around. I know it's 3rd hand information but still I'd say it was more creditable than info from people selling imports.
  19. R

    questionable teaching or not?

Oh I don't know he's been keeping bees a long time and has a good reputation, he also keeps his bees on a single standard brood box which afew people on hear seem to thing is impossible, that must be an achievement in itself 😏😂. He also manages to breed bees seemingly making them more native...

No I think there where still alot of native bees back then by the sounds of it on dave cushmans website, there's an interesting write up on iowd on that same website where Roger talks about his mentor during the iowd and his thoughts on the matter.
