    CBPV

Nothing at the moment I guessed the upended blocks would be enough at 440mms high.

    CBPV

Got a mild case on one of mine I didn't get round to making a floorless stand so I had to improvise. Strapped down to eyebolts its pretty stable. Within 10 mins there were a couple of shivering bees on the slab. While the floor and stand are out they get a good decontamination. Not sure If want...

    Honey supers

Not had any fighting I've found you can replenish a depleted nuc with no territorial issues whatsover by shaking off honey frames from another colony Apideas are said to be best stocked with little 'uns too. Valuable commodity all round...

    Honey supers

If the super is rammed then it's probably best to clear it but if it's well capped then there'll will likely be sufficiently few enough to transfer straight across. Stack them on top of the existing super and close off with the crownboard , simples as. The recipient colony will guard and...

    When to remove foliage.

Losing a few flying bees is not one of the four horsemen.

    Honey supers

Bit late now but in future scan the local area for Oilseed **** fields. If this is part of your spring crop ,as previously mentioned you have to get this extracted before it sets. We normally only do extraction in August so we're nearly caught out by a new OsR crop this year.Just got away with...

    Sac brood

Its the queens poor genetics that are the root cause of most minor ailments A new decent queen will flush the comb though with new healthy brood and normal service will be resumed within a couple of months. Shook swarming is a drastic procedure Politics is unfortunately hard to steer clear of...

    brood sheets

As a pup I had a Saturday job in a supermarket (the one where very little helps) The bread slicer had a set of blunt wires that were reinstalled specifically for us part timers to wreck every loaf that we tried to slice. The jam pump was also recalibrated to turn a normal doughnut into a...

    Do I have a queen?

Well done 9 at the least They've been doing Beekeeping way longer than we have and they're a damn sight better at it too. Leave them alone even though it's hard to resist. If you spook her she'll be gone.

Time to go Electric… 12 frame extractor recommends.

That's commendable but ten seasons ago a readymade brand-name stainless steel one would have been the same price or cheaper surely?

    One handed queen catcher

I'm worried I'd put her 'safely' in my pocket with a catcher -at least with a press in cage she'd go back in on the frame. You can buy a bagful of them for a fiver on Amazon under "queen cage isolator etc " but if you tap "crown of thorns" into ebay you get lots of Jesus pictures. It would be...

Just make sure its Glade and not Raid. ;)

What would you do? Advice please.

The "bleach " based cleaners need 10 to 60 minutes. SH degrades with age, light and heat,so only use a fresh bottle and use cold water. Long term exposure can damage/erode/harden some surfaces so rinsing is strongly advisable. The food/paediatric industry have modified products to counter this.

Another **** up on the marketing front?

With some of the soap-dodger clientele I saw at the Builth convention Id much prefer honey from a fully automated line.
