Hive 7 chucking the last of the drones out...

Interesting as I bought in 3 queens earlier in the season and I can’t say i am over impressed with them. My homies are much gentler and calmer and just as productive.

I’ve taped half a sheet of acetate over that side so they can’t fall in hopefully!

Can’t beat a local queen IMHO. Just hope she was mated properly so late in the season, although I still have drones in several hives so fingers crossed.

I agree. Our BKA has been working hard on education - in schools, at country & village fairs - handing out information, posters in prominent places, AH stickers in cars and vans and frequent posts on social media. Public awareness I would say is pretty good - I get asked about Asian Hornets...

Freeman Harding are good on quality and price I find. My round 8oz jars and lids (with a choice of colours and patterns) are working out at 37p each this year… that was for a pallet load (2100) that I split with the other beeks in our BKA….

My lovely local baker is doing it for £16 a box so don’t need to bulk buy!

I’ve been turning mine off between hives & find that the battery loses power pretty fast.

Fed the bees in the out apiary. Wasps still around & bees a bit tetchy so topped up the traps. One hive is possibly queenless or has a newly mated queen not yet laying as they’re very calm and there’s cell polishing going on and pollen coming in. Lots of sealed brood but no eggs or larvae. Nipping out to the village today to collect a couple of boxes of fondant from the local bakers. Just shows how much price gouging is going on - I’ve seen 12.5k boxes on line for nearly thirty quid 😱

Last of the vaping today and added syrup to a couple of light nucs. Trying to be patient and not disturb two other nucs that were requeening a few weeks ago.
