    Lyson Rebate

I do like the look of those. The ventilated floor and migratory roof options look pretty good.

    Lyson Rebate

Hi. I am suffering with upper back trouble and I am thinking about buying a few polyhives. I like the look of Lyson langstroths and honey paw langstroths. The lyson looks great apart from the rebates. Are there any people on here that have those hives that can share their experience with the...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

The flow seems to be ending around here. I wonder if I can remove the supers this early without them wanting to swarm when the extra space is removed. They are on single deeps. The harvest seems to be getting earlier each year!

    Poly vs wood?

This thread has aged a lot. Poly is now far more expensive than wood. Unaffordable for many.

    Do you use Queen excluders

I don't bother with them. They are annoying. They are good for keeping newspaper in place when doing a unite though.

You can push the inspected frame vertically downwards so that it is already touching the last frame's hoffman spacing. That way you push any bees down and out of the way rather than putting the frame in and sliding it across, closing a gap between them that bees may jump into. I'm not sure if...

What's flowering as forage in your area

I've just added a 4th super to one of mine here near Great Yarmouth. I'm hoping they will fill it but I fear the flow will be over soon. I have no idea what they are on. The brambles are almost finished

What did you do in the 'workshop' today

Ey up. I am going to make some Rhombus clearing boards. Do you think this will provide a deep enough board for clearance? -...

    Thymol syrup

Is this quite complicated to make? I'm thinking of feeding them a little after harvest to get them through to the Ivy. Thanks

    Where are the wasps?

Squirrel burgers? Elvis loved them apparently. Didn't do him any harm

    Time to change our tune?

I have had a while of feeling unbelievably low, achy with no energy due to ME and depression, to the point where I felt like I don't want to carry on. I'm never sure if ME actually exists or if it is all in my head. I'm a very sceptical person. I don't usually eat honey, but last night I had a...

    Recording inspection notes

I was already getting confused which hive was which and what condition they were in the week before with just 5 hive hives. I can't imagine it with 100s. Hopefully, this time next year I'll have 8 to 10 and further increases year after year so needed a system. I'm not sure if I have the correct...

Eco solution for keeping rodents away from hives

Yip. I love my cat to bits, he such a character and so affectionate and protective with my 15 month old son but I'll never have another cat after he goes for what they do to birds. I'd never find one like him again anyway
