    Mobile bee hive….. discuss 😁

Nice design, an improvement on some ideas I'd had so well done to them for making it but doubt the bees will do well and I wonder how long before the perspex is covered in bee faeces... As for the marketing nonsense, tend to agree with the above posts!

What did you do in the Apiary today?

It's the 40-50mph gusts they were worried about with the gazebos. As it's on a high street rather than grass I can securely peg into (I know my gazebo can cope in high winds if pegged as I tested it during one of the summer storms), I can kind of understand where they're coming from but it's a...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Saturday's Christmas fair has been cancelled due to the wind forecast. A real shame. Got a couple of smaller ones coming up but going to have a lot of candles and honey left methinks.

Isn't it a sign of quality?

    Cars hate me

I believe that info can probably be found online... I think it involves using a narrow tool to manually open the catch for the door.

    Time to change our tune?

Regarding the gin and tonic for malaria, that is, I believe, due to tonic water containing quinine which is anti-malarial.

Selling, we are doing it wrong.

It has got me wondering what that would look like in the UK (even as someone who is more on the royalist side). The problem I think we'd have in the UK is there would be massive mismanagement of the assets- much of the land would probably end up in private hands rather than being owned for the...

Selling, we are doing it wrong.

Interesting chat in Austria last week where they abolished their royal family around a century ago and reclaimed the land for the people - sort of. However, they are big on protecting their culture and identity, something which sadly has often become combined with hooliganism or the far right...

And tonight I learned that Hal is short for Henry! Didn't know about the ponies. Your history knowledge is impressive. So are you going to rally the forum for support to your claim to the throne?

Don't you technically also have a very tenuous claim?

    Wax for candlemaking

I usually sell a pack of three from normal deep foundation or a pack of four from deep cut comb foundation for £10. Can't remember wick size currently but I use NT wicks from 4candles.

    Wax for candlemaking

Buy from someone you trust. I'd argue Denrosa is one of those.

    Poured wax candles

I'd imagine the technique might have been invented by people who didn't have enough wax to be able to dip?

    What defines a healthy colony

We're initially seeing what we find in terms of microbes in honey full stop- it's one part of the hive which seems relatively untested. Thus far we know various spore forming species including lactobacilli seem to be present (so potential probiotic effect) and when we've got more data we hope to...

    What defines a healthy colony

That's rather the point I'm trying to answer- what metrics do people on here use to decide whether a colony is, in their opinion, healthy.

    What defines a healthy colony

Hi all, Just wondered if people could post what criteria they use to determine whether a colony is healthy? Background - trying to come up with a relatively objective metric for colony health as part of my PhD student's work into honey microbiome. Also - does anyone have an exhaustive list...
