    Laying workers?

It will be interesting to see what they have got up to. You have enough colonies to do some experimentation. (y)

    Laying workers?

Hi BeeBird, Did you put a second brood frame in (with eggs and larvae) ?

    Queens

I did a similar thing on a couple of colonies here last season - but it was much later in the season for me. It was well into autumn. I was disappointed that they failed to produce more queen cells but they are still doing ok now. As to one of your other questions, I did read (to the best of...

    Where are the wasps?

They can last the winter here, building huge nests. Spotted this one today.

    How big is it?

    Bird Feet

Did you keep any of the small grey feathers? Perhaps that would help with identification?

    Heather predictions this year

That's interesting. We have gorse here, which I thought was the same as the one over there, but it only seems to flower through winter and spring. This was one a few weeks back.

    Heather predictions this year

Nice. Do you know what the yellow flower amongst the heather is?

    National deep tangential adaptor?

Depending on the width and depth you have in your existing cage, I wondered if another brand may have fitted, or nearly fitted (post #2)? These are apparently 30x40cm. https://www.honey-extractors.co.uk/tangential-screen-for-radial-cage-stainless-steel

    Laying workers?

I don't think I had great success with it, but I can't recall it well. It was a weak colony in a poor area. I thought it was because there were not enough bees to keep up with her, but your situation sounds different. I remember Finman commenting (when I posted about it before) along the...

    Laying workers?

Here is a photo I took of multiple eggs in cells in a queenright colony. I was able to see the queen on the comb, so different to your situation. Having said that, I think I'd be too inquisitive not to have a really thorough look for a queen in a situation like this :)

    National deep tangential adaptor?

Hi Paul, What is the distance across the cage in each quadrant - as in where you would put a tangential screen? Depth?

What did you do in the Apiary today?

In a situation like this Moobee, given all the details you have provided, I'd say that the it was most likely that the queen was killed (cause not known - perhaps as per posts 40,639 and 40,656 - although I have seen it happen with an unmarked/unclipped queen) and the colony has made cells to...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

I lost a queen today when she left the brood frame she was on, after I briefly put it to one side, but out of the hive. I spent what time I had, crawling around pathetically on all fours, peering under pallets and on the ground for her, but to no avail.

One of our BKA members has a problem

There were some forest ravens here (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forest_raven) that liked my vehicle windscreen wiper rubber at an apiary site. I ended up wrapping the wipers in a towels in the end, and that stopped them. They are always generally doing a useful job here cleaning up road...

    Floor bee space

Do they tend to sometimes build a little bit under them with that sort of space?

running bb with runners and DN1

At 51.40 is as Ely says above (post #6). It's the best way for me. Also, wow! 18 queens in one swarm :D
