    thanks BC and J. What do you think about bringing them intto the house overnight to avoid the perishing cold up north at night? i gave them an uncapped frame of stores, sprayed 1:1 and put feeder on top. Will give a frame of brood when I get back tonight.

    it did cross my mind. The thing is, I think they / it is a gone r. will the spray of 1:! bring them back. I've not had much experiance with starvation, so don't know how robust, or how quick they can come back from the brink. Any tips are most welcome, Thanks, Buzz

    not to get too tearie eyed about it, but... For me it takes me to another world, one where weather, disease, and an element of luck touch their world like nothing else. For me, I can think about how to improve their lot; do I swap a frame around, feed, merge etc..... You soon know if you get it...

    just to give you the heads up. Chatting to the farmer tonight, big OSR contractor, concerned about the huge amout of hive beatle present on the flower heads. Will be spraying in the next few days, so will be ringing as and when. You all might want to contact your local guys re the situation...

    why significantly reduce the 2 other colonys? You will easily be able to make up a nuc later in the season if these build up ok. But this could be risked if you pull brood at this very important stage. Regards, Dave
