preparing and storing supers and honey frames

I leave them in the apiary for the bees to clean off. You could put them above the crown board and they would do the same. Some store them wet. Dave

preparing and storing supers and honey frames

I store mine 6 high in a barn, no gaps. Empty super / BB on top. Then I use sulpher strips 1 * month to keep top side of wax moth etc. Make sure mice dont get in. Others will have their prefered way. I know my mentor stores his outside in a big plastic bag, well sealed. He thinks the cold keeps...

    Field bean

Hi TB, Ive had mine on beans, and well it produces a bit. Like most things its a bit hit and miss. If they are there anyway I would leave them there, worth a try. It flowers a bit after the OSR. Farmers seem to think bees go mad on it, I'm not so sure. Regards, Dave

Number of Wasp nests near Apiary

Funny enough done no feeding as yet (too many wasps to risk it). Last nuc must have been moved 6 weeks ago. Supers when taken off went straight into the car, didn't want to risk robbing (bees or wasps), got more books than are good for me, closed down to a couple of bee spaces, and yet the...

Number of Wasp nests near Apiary

Hi MB, hows that? I am on a fruit farm, with a high number of wasps. How does that relate to my bee keeping? I do know that there is a high amount of over ripe fruit which makes for loads of food for the little buggers. Regards, Dave

    Damn Wasps

just to say sorry about the wasp attack. I lost 3 small colonys in the last two weeks to them. I have a huge problem, no kidding yesterday I wiped out at least 1000 while checking over the hives, topping up the traps etc.. Most now I am pleased to say are keeping outside the hives. The trouble I...

Getting more bees than wasps at present. Any suggestions? could they be too close to the apiary? Never been a...
