    new swarm - location

I didnt know this at the time but this is the secound cast she has lost from the hive, hence the reason she has no more equipment to house them. thanks for the info, didnt know they have a drone congregation area. I thought that if there were other hives in the same area, she would mate with...

    Bees from auctions

I dont think theres anything wrong with buying from auctions, I have done it. I would ask the seller all the general questions re varroa treatment, specific species or mongrel, year of queen etc. If you are happy with the answers, tell the seller you will pay him the price but agree with him...

Lots of sealed QCs today, they put them up in a week

if they are charged and capped, they will swarm. Removing the cells may delay them a week or so but I would say you need to preform an artificial swarm.

2 Queens in a hive since August last year!

hi, im a pretty new beek so dont take what I say as bible. Im sure a more experianced beek will give there opinion. firstly, do you have capped woker cells? if so, i would guess you need to find out which queen is doing what. If one queen is just a drone layer, she is pointless. Are you on...

    worried after inspection :(

does sound like varroa may be the overall problem. Is HM laying? did you see eggs i will ditto using oxalic to treat for varroa while they are basically broodless, far more effective than a apiguard which also needs higher temps than were having at the minute

emptied hive - will they be accepted by other hives

    Thymol in syrup

Im still a relative newb so im sure someone with more experience will answer this too but ill give my opinion yes i think theres quite a high chance it will taint any future honey even though you say its restricted to the brrod frames. For a start, the stuff really stinks and the fumes get...
