    Bee Swarm?

Thanks to all for the great replies! They have been really useful. So they are wasps. Does anyone recommend a certain pesticide with a nozzle as it seems that they have made a giant "wasp haven" on top of the ceiling of the bow window as we can hear them all over the bow window.

    Bee Swarm?

@Margaret I called the neighbour over, and he thinks that they are wasps. However, strangely enough, they have not touched the jam! Are there any other techniques for identifying if they are wasps or bees? Thank you

@Margaret I'll try the toast & jam experiment! Thanks for the advice! They'll love it. Thanks for all the help so far

    Bee Swarm?

The wasps have managed to make a hole through the ceiling!!! You just hear them buzzing and like some scratching and gnawing of wood. Two wasps are already in, and I've put some silicon on the hole (which will hopefully slow them down) Here are some more pictures: Is anyone else sure...

    Bee Swarm?

Hi, This morning, I was downstairs in the living room and I kept on hearing this buzzing sound. I went outside to investigate and here is what I have found!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8vIb_suEAA&feature=youtu.be For some time, I have been interested in beekeeping and this may as well...

Again, thanks ugcheleuce, currently I'm kind of failing the blender model, but I think I get the hang of your description! A great special thanks to everyone else's time and effort ;) As for me, let's get wood-working!

2.75mm thick, planked national hive plans?

Hello, Thank you for your reply, ugcheleuce, I've seen a glimpse of your first post but I haven't been able to put my head into it yet. I've started making a 3d model of your description, but I'm abroad currently, so I am unable to do much. Thank you for all your help Kind regards

2.75mm thick, planked national hive plans?

I do think that this thread is about "2.75mm thick, planked national hive plans?", not "Bee books", so of course we will encounter the same ideas covered in previous posts. So, yes: :ot: So let's stay on topic shall we? ;) Good, good. Latest news: I've got some wood planks which are 1.75mm...

Quality replies ;) I must stay on my toes, thanks! To say the truth, I do like the Green Guide, as once you're deep into the book, you get lots of checklists which are quite useful. e.g. pasteboard.co/d5145bK.png ******************************************************** :sos: I agree with you...

2.75mm thick, planked national hive plans?

Sheesh! Lots of replies! Thank you, I haven't yet put my head into all the measurements yet, so I'll try to reply to all the posts about the design as soon as possible. @pargyle I have been reading two books, Beekeeping a Practical Guide by Roger Patterson and Keeping Bees (from the Green...

    Wild Bumble Bee maniac?

Hello, I have a friend who has some wild bees in a hole in a tree in his garden. When I showed him a pic of a honey bee, he said it was a bit fatter, a bit like a Bumble Bee. So would it bee :) reliable to get those bees for my hive? I've already read that bumble bees are in extinction so...

2.75mm thick, planked national hive plans?

Well that's a jolly well coloured post. ;) Yes, I did quite an embarrassing lesson on measuring. :) When you say "14 x 12 frames", I expect that's in inches. (Just to help newbees reading this) And I have been reading about difficult beehive types, but I found out that you can't manage varroa...

2.75mm thick, planked national hive plans?

Some thoughts Hello to all, So, in order: @derekm Unfortunately, I do not know my local BKA really well, and I'm looking forward to get commercial use from the hive, so borrowing isn't really such a good idea. @pargyle A great, detailed and useful post, thank you! Now comes the frames...

2.75mm thick, planked national hive plans?

Thanks to all Thank you very, very much for all your replies. Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure that I will be unable to buy a flat pack hive due to financial costs. All that I can afford is the rest of the beekeeping equipment. So I'm kind of stuck to have to build the beehive myself, sadly. :(...

2.75mm thick, planked national hive plans?

Hi to all, Recently, I have become very interested in beekeeping and I have been researching about plenty of different types of hives. So the depth is 2.75cm, width is 12cm, and length is up to 1 metre pasteboard.co/7E0pWyR.png Top view: pasteboard.co/7EjKxSH.png The issue is that the width...
