Bad foundation in the Netherlands and Belgium

I originally got the idea from a picture taken of an ancient bee in amber with resin in its sacs. P.S. Apologies to have drifted off the topic but here's the article I read. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/nature/amber-time-machine.html

Bad foundation in the Netherlands and Belgium

Thanks. I appreciate that. You might be able to find it on line at a vendor that sells art supplies. If you're able to get some perhaps you can just try it out for yourself. By putting a few grams (10) at the hive entrance, you'll notice after a few days how the bees start to glisten and...

Bad foundation in the Netherlands and Belgium

I don't know if anyone uses this technique but if you fasten a 4cm strip of foundation, e.g., by melting it, along the top of the frame, the bees will continue adding on to fill the entire frame. Plus, you can use dammar resin to supplement their need for raw materials.

    Corroboration Help Please

What does the scale look like? To me it just looks like old empty comb. Maybe I'll get some pictures so we can all look at this reasonably.

    Corroboration Help Please

They are still using the frames. They just don't use certain areas within those fames and I don't know why. Like I stated, it's one of my strongest hives currently. (1 Top Bar Kenyan type and 3 Langstroths) This last May that particular hive did split but I captured the swarm and started...

    Corroboration Help Please

It's not my intent to be a nitwit but if it's the official policy to burn all hives with AFB and they are still burning them, then the problem isn't being solved now is it? Maybe some brave soul could at least try the H2O2 treatment and get back to me on the QT. I've waited a while for any new...

That humor is what I enjoy about you Brits. I don't know about your petrol but here it's explosive and I know you wouldn't want me to to singe these beautiful eyebrows. -Harry

Thank you. I did see that forum but I recognize that the Brits are hands down the worlds best beeks. I don't have the time to track both forums. -Harry

    Corroboration Help Please

Hello. That's just it. The brood area is clear of all signs of AFB. It's one of my strongest hives now. (The honey is tasty and rich too.) I'm thinking that the hive body given to me was contaminated. We do have state wide inspectors and beeks must be available for inspections at any time. I...

    Corroboration Help Please

Hello from Oklahoma. I didn't know to what extent you Brits were acting on it. Thank you. Maybe some curious Cooter beek will try it out for a bit before they call in the LAW.

    Corroboration Help Please

I need some help to corroborate a treatment for AFB. (There was no 'official' diagnoses but the look and smell were there as well as the slimy brood cells.) To the supplemental sugar water jar (250 ml water plus 100 gm +/- white sugar) all I did was add 5-10 ml of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide over a...
