    Very bad temperament Bees!!

Thank you all for the good advice. I had forgot to mention that I had actually killed off any drone cells that were visible when making up the Nucs & joining brood boxes. The Nucs were only planned a temporary measure until I had better queens to replace them with, but I will take your advice...

    Phacelia tanacetifolia (purple tansey)

Hi all. I'm wondering has anyone any experience at growing Phacelia tanacetifolia. Apis mellifera mellifera frame size

Hi all I have 2 nucs i'm over wintering that contain the AMM strain of bee. I had bought some 14x12 fames during the summer & was wondering if anyone used the larger frames with this breed. I know this strain isn't as prolific as other imported breeds & want to give them the best conditions...

Hi all. I'm looking for some advice on how to join a nuc to a broodless Q- hive. The main hive is a National & has now no brood or Queen. The original hive Queen was killed & a caged replacement was introduced. A week later the queen was released, but not accepted in the hive. It has now no...

    Joining brood boxes

I opened the AS hive (containing the old queen & new frames) & she has brrod on 3 frames, but very little of the remaining frames drawn out. I then opened the original brood box that was placed about 4 feet away & containing the uncapped queen cells & remaining brood (4 weeks ago at this stage)...

    Joining brood boxes

Hi all. I think I have caused carnage today at a hive! I performed an AS in mid April. All went well, but very bad weather stopped the queen form being mated. I spoke to a few beeks & they said that I should probably reunite the hives. I had a liik through the original hive (where the fresh...

    Sticky crownboard

Hi all. I have a national hive and there has been a new crownboard & roor fitted. The wood has been treated and now the crown board sticks to roof when doing an inspection. This exposes the frames straight away. Has anyone else had this problem & what is the best way of stopping this happen. Thanks
