    Later Than Planned Queen Introduction?

I did one just before this cold spell. She hadn't started laying a couple of days ago but I have had to feed them.

    Horizontal hive posting

I just watched the video on Hyde Hives about installing the bees in the hive. He has more bees over his backside than he had in the Hive. Made me smile if nothing else.

God I love growing our own

Our potatoes are showing through the ground. Not the Charlotte yet but the Sagita needs earthing up every day. The Charlotte in pots in the greenhouse are well on the way though.

What's flowering as forage in your area

One of our best fruits is the myrobalan plum. Thanks to you I now know what it is called. Luscious red fruits, sweet to eat, freezes well, cooks up nicely. Bees love the early blossom. Grow it as a tree. We have all the trees you have bought. Watch out for web spinning caterpillar of the ermin...

First swarm yesterday of the year for me

Not my hives. But to be fair it is the queen's third year, it is the most amazingly quiet and productive hive. I would be happy to have them. Relatively new beekeeper so .......

First swarm yesterday of the year for me

Went to collect my first prime swarm yesterday. Went through the neighbours hive they came from and removed 38 queen cells.

    Yet another newbie!

Welcome from the levels, don't be afraid to ask anything but the answer you decide to go with should always be the one that best suits your own method of beekeeping. There is more than one way to skin a cat🐱

Transferring my Nuc to a full Hive

Another tip is to go back in in four days. Whichever box has eggs has the queen in. If it is the brood box all is good, if it is the box above the brood then she will be much easier to find now. Saves shaking bees which can be quite difficult for a beginner.

God I love growing our own

Ours is Somerset Clay. Snot Green that makes Blue flaky boulders (Blue Lias) that they build the houses with. Then they wonder why they crumble.😉
