I agree that there is no harm in going over, well none that i have seen, but would try to keep it as little as possible.
the rules gives a TNE (tolerable negative error)by which you can be under the marked weight.
I.E.
200-300g you are allowed 9g
300-500g its 3% of the nominal weight

the question was about apivar and i mean apivar, not apilife var.
Apivar contains Amitraz where as the apilife var contains, thymol and essential oils.
The Apivar leaflet says at the bottom in small print.
"do not recycle brood frames as honey frames"
however since you should not have a super...
if you have to use a super during the treatment i would not use it for honey in the future.
The manufacture say that the treated frames should not be recycled to honey frames.
I know it depends on drone population in your own area...... But what tends to be the latest people consider practical to do a split to over winter a nuc?
True, but some claim that since they are deeper all the way down it's easier for the bees to draw out and can theoretically fill with more honey per frame. But only time will tell how my ladies like them.
fun you mention it. i fitted one of my supers with manley this year just to see how they get on too. They have just started to draw it out as it only went on, on Sunday.
i have read a lot of comments on here about people doing this. i have never heard of it at my local BKA and was just wondering if someone could explain the process and benefits please.
yep :willy_nilly: i always take a step back have a cup of tea then look at the issue again :)
the BS honeybee nucs were deep enough to accept even with QCs hanging off the bottom of the frames. the correx boxes i use in emergencies are not.
if the queen is not in there they will run out of...
i did it the other way round.
i left the queen in the hive and moved the frames with QCs into the nucs.
One frame per nuc, knocking down to only two QCs then filed up with frames of BIAS and stores. And one of just foundation to keep them busy whilst she mates, AFAIK this is optional but it...
oh and incidentally as someone mentioned needing exact dates, one of my other nucs the queen hatched last night. i know i went in too frequently but as i used a frame of eggs and larvae i was not sure which one they would pick. would people recommend including them on my weekly inspection...
