I have a friend who has this problem which I am trying to help solve!
He has a NUC and it is slowing dying due to the fact the queen is laying eggs but the bees refuse to cap the eggs and larvae .I did dig out a couple of Larvae and they each had a mite on them.

Just leave them alone for now and when you learn more about the bees you can always get a swarm off them with the Queen!I do Trap outs and cut outs as well and they are some times not a joy to do.Make a swarm trap and get the bees with a queen she will probably be a older queen but still better...
If I have a trap up like that I put a small rope around the box and slowly lower it to the ground.Put the rope over a limb or around the ladder rungs and let it down slowly.
Did you re queen the swarm after capture?Most swarms have a old queen and they play out .I lost one in that manner also as I failed to re queen the hive.
