    Nationals Vs langstroth

Happy so far with the Lang poly hive for the first year, seem to have plenty of space. Honey supers nice and easy to lift and extract. So good I'm getting another identical hive next year, might even drive out to CW jones as it's just over the border from me.

    Feeding fermenting honey?

Just read up on the, defiantly a no then

Have i done this wrong ?

Think I'd avoid adding further frames or supers right now, feeding with syrup is the way I'd go but as a beginner myself I'd hold off doing much until more experienced guys give there input.

    Feeding fermenting honey?

Could you not heat the honey to purge off any alcohol present? Suppose it depends how much honey we're talking about?

    winter preparation.

I've got a single brood (lang jumbo) to cater for, left them a single full super for winter which is now placed under the brood box along with some apilife against varroa. Not sure if one full one will be enough either but I have a feeder to use as well if need be.

    Winter Stores

We're in a similar position, we're taking three frames maybe four tomorrow and leaving them the rest for winter. Will feed with syrup too as I'm not greedy.

    extracting

Your in a similar position to me, my nuc was installed in my poly hive end of May. It's got a full consignment of honey now and we've had a little sample from moving the frames around, tastes amazing. I'll be extracting a few frames and leaving the rest. Second super has got some stores but...

    Bad weather feeding for beginers?

I'd be interested to know this also, I'm a beginner too and learning lots as I go (had my first colony just last week, everything seems fine except the rains every five minutes). Been feeding mine sugar syrup at 250ml a time, once a day and there taking the lot quite nicely. Like yours, they...

    Dead Bees under hive stand

We've had a fair few fatalities in the past few days, again I'm a new bee keeper just like you and we have been worried. As others have said just a part of hive life

    WANTED: langstroth jumbo brood box

Looking for a langstroth jumbo brood box as the bee keeper I'm getting my bees from uses jumbo frames. All kits I've found online only have medium brood boxes or are sold out of the jumbo. A eke to fit is also a option but I would prefer the real deal. Please let me know if you have one spare...

    Hi from Stoke on Trent

Hi mike Thanks for the info, I'm part of meetup for the Stoke apiary guys and girls which is just around the corner. It's great to have such good quality knowledge on my doorstep but I don't think (might be totally wrong) that they have enough bees or equipment to go around if I were to take up...

    Hi from Stoke on Trent

That's so good to hear Madasafish it's good to know there's lots of help available. Ive been to the local Stoke meeting last Sunday for the weekly check up, certainly fascinating stuff. Where abouts are the courses based? Perhaps I could attend and meet in person?
