Anybody ventured and made a double five frame nucs?

That could possibly be made to use the standard national floor but with a divider in the middle to hold two five frames nucleus? Possibly a rear facing entrance on one of them.

Bored and thinking out loud on a Sunday. Might not work but thought I'd ask.

Yes, this is done. Worth looking into what @Michael Palmer says about using this sort of system. I believe there were some talks at last year's NHS.
 
I saw one like that today, the owner reckoned that the two nucs overwinter really well as the heat from each nuc is shared with the other. If I was planning to overwinter in wooden boxes, I think this is what I'd use.
