Hi all, looking for an decent, affordable bee suit for my wife. I have recently got into beekeeping and even though my wife has no interest at the moment, I would like to have a suit available and ready just in case curiosity get the better of her and she decides to accompany me to inspect the bees. Any reccommendations would be welcome. Don't want to spend a fortune as it may never get used.

Thanks

Graeme

Ebay cheapie?

Done a bit of research and have opted to try 3 layer vented suit from AGS, got some good reviews and reasonably priced.
Thanks for the advice.

Graeme

I purchased the AGS 3-layer ultra-ventilated suit for my wife. She used it a couple of times towards the end of last year; however, she found the cuffs to be excessively large, resulting in loose elastic and gaps around her wrists. Subsequently, I obtained some gaiters for her, thus resolving the issue. I own the Auz Armour ventilated suit, which is largely similar except for the addition of a rib in the hood to keep it off the face, Velcro cuffs for adjustable sizing, and a slightly different pocket configuration. Despite the need to purchase gaiters, the AGS suit offers good value for money compared to the Auz Armour, considering the significant price difference.

Just wondering how you got on with the suit, I could do with something better than my very cheap one
Hi, the suit was very large for a Small and the shoulders were half way down her arms so we sent it back. Quality of suit was ok just very large. Excellent customer service with no quibble money back once suit was returned.

My Wife bought me this off ebay ,a ventilated bee suit ,as I was drenched with sweat using my other ,and the difference was amazing ,kept cool and hardly any sweating so pleased on that point ,the only issue I had was as I bent down to pick the frames out of the hive ,the viel came close to my chin ,even wearing a hat ,overcame this by sewing some velcro on the main velcro flap this prevented the viel collapse. But for £40 a bargain .
Here is the link off Ebay.

I bought the 3 XL size to contour fit my midriff ;) I only had a tee shirt on and no cap

Just bought myself one of these, as I was sick of my old jacket- all the elastic had gone, so I was having issues!

What height are you, may I ask? I went 2XL, but not sure that will be tall enough..

What does it wash like? I bought a super cheap suit and jacket from Simon the beekeeper and they both bobbled really quickly. No complaints for the money I paid, but I now wish I had paid a bit extra for better material.

Is that an Aussie "eucalyptus print "shirt underneath?

It's a good idea to check the crotch region of any suit (as BeeKeePlayer found out recently). This was a very early place for mine to "let go" ...so early in fact that one could be excused for wondering if it might be sabotage or some wag in the factory. Anyhow, it's held firm for many years now with my needlework:geek:

I'm 5'11
But needed bigger size for my waistline .its a bit baggy on arms and legs ,but tucked in wellies no problem .I think the viel if I had got a
2 xl would not drop on my chin so much when looking down .
Hope this helps

check your association they often have an offer for 10/20% off on Sherrif suits we get these for beginners.

Cheap and cheerful, wasn't expecting much from it tbh, but my HumbleBee ventilated suit is as cool as my maisemore ventilated one and is the only one of 6 suits I've tried that let's me see eggs easily. Never tried a Sherriff, and tried the Clearview too.
