Started off with a strong colony in April (8/9 frames) which soon tried to swarm due to my poor capabilities. Unfortunately for them the queen was clipped so perished in the process. So, being queenless I merged with a swarm from a friends hives.
They soon started producing queen cells, and having learnt my earlier lesson I performed a nerve-wraking AS. Decided that I would like two colonies, so left them split, having checked that the QC was developing nicely.
Well five weeks or so later I go back to my parent colony, not only find the queen but manage to mark her without ripping off any legs, and joy of joys find some larvae!
Realise this is old hat for most of you, but I feel like I've taken up obstetricsand just delivered my first baby
Will be raising a celebatory glass down the Brownlow Arms this lunchtime
