Those of you that don't mind sharing, it would be interesting to have an overview of what losses we experienced last winter. Divided very simplistically into those with more or less than 5 hives. Drone laying queens count as a loss.

I've done these the past few years, results here

2015/16 http://www.beekeepingforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=36649 (86 participants)

2014/15 http://www.beekeepingforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=33168 (104)

2013/14 http://www.beekeepingforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=28489 (157)

2012/13 http://www.beekeepingforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=22931 (228)

2011/12 http://www.beekeepingforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=16415 (213)

2010/11 http://www.beekeepingforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=9654 (217)

I've included the previous results in brackets by each option.

I'll leave this poll open until the end of the month

Thanks for setting this up MA, I find it really good to know in a general sort of way, how other people have done - a sort of confidence test....

I only lost one and that was just a weak late swarm.

Funnily enough I had a poor layer (late swarm) in a relatively small colony at the end of last season that I doubted was going to last the winter, but she seems to have turned it around thus far and is now firing them out like a good 'un.

Don't leave it too long Millet. I have colonies with 9 frames of brood and bursting at the seams with bees already.
The weather was not acceptable up here on the north east coast until the 17th of April last year, it is pretty much the same now, i will be in soon though. ;)
